The Green Way To Say Bye to Weeds!

We all know how annoying weeds can be. Whether they flourish and spread in our gardens, flower beds, or find their way to seep through the cracks of our sidewalk and driveway.

There is no reason for us to be using harmful chemicals when we all have the access and ability to rid the weeds naturally. Did you know you can kill weeds with water!? That's right! We will be sharing a few different options in this month's blog on how to kill weeds the green way.

The first and most simple way to do so, is to boil a pot of water...that's it. Boiling water and pouring it on the unwanted weeds will kill them and help them to not come back. Be sure to only put the boiling water on the unwanted areas, as it can destroy other plants/vegetables/flowers as well.

You can also use table salt. Simply spread the table salt wherever you don't want things growing. You can also add salt to water and spray the leaves of the weeds. Be careful to not allow the mixture into the soil as it can have a negative effect on other plants.

Another household item that can help you kill weeds is white vinegar. Using the vinegar is the same process as above, spraying just the leaves and avoiding the soil.

A very commonly used mixture for killing weeds is actually some of these ingredients added together! Mix 1 gallon of white vinegar, 1 c. table salt, and 1 tbs. of dish detergent and spray it on the weeds. This is a very well known mixture for the purpose of killing weeds. You may need to spray a few times, but this should definitely do the trick!

There are many other ways, including heat applications, using newspapers etc. These are just a few suggestions to get you started in the most natural, eco-friendly way possible with common household products.

Happy weeding! Stay Green!
